i don’t get this period thing. like, why do some people use tampons and others use pads?? this sucks! i’m a 6th grader and some people have gotten their period and some haven’t and some use pads and some use tampons and some have kissed people and some have literally had sex! it’s gross. as i said before, i don’t get it! i’m only 12 and i use pads, is that normal or should i use tampons or what? can someone explainthis to me? i need help!

Use whatever you and your parents are comfortable with. At 30 I use both but when I was your age, my parents and dr would only allow pads.
Also... don't have sex like your peers. You're too young.

1 daughter got her period at 12 her older sister just got her period at 16. For younger girls non sexually active I recommend pads as they would be more comfortable. I dont feel girls should have sex until they are in a serious committed relationship where they are mature enough to understand even if you take precautions when having sex there is always a chance you can fall pregnant. There are plenty of steps between kissing and sex. Only you know what you feel comfortable with. Dont be in a rush to grow up.

Do whatever YOU are most comfortable with. It doesn’t matter what your friends, family, etc think. Wanna use pads? Use them. Wanna use tampons? Use them. Wanna use a cup? Do it.

I got my period when I was 10 and started using tampons when I was 15. 
I first started using tampons because I had plans to go swimming and started my period. I then started using tampons instead of pads because I like them better. I think they’re a lot less messy than pads are, and I don’t like the thought of sitting in my own blood and feeling it gush out. With a tampon you don’t have to worry about blood gushing when you sneeze and it’s very unlikely to bleed through with one in. So really it’s just all about what you’re most comfortable with! 
And good for you for not having sex just to fit in with everybody else! 💖

I have 3 daughters. One is only 9 and we haven’t reached this yet. My oldest daughter is almost 29 and my other is now 18. They only used pads in the beginning. I feel that it’s healthier when your younger and still figuring things out such as proper hygiene and how you just deal with a period in general. I personally always used pads until just recently the past few years. I now use a diva cup. I could never use tampons because they caused me discomfort no matter what. I let my girls decide when they were older. They didn’t start tampons until between ages 16 and 17. As far a sex goes there is NO need for it at 12! My 18 yr old is still a virgin and she’s in no hurry. My oldest daughter had a baby young so she sees what comes with sex and she’s not ready. You have your whole life for that as an adult! Just know that just because someone your age does something doesn’t mean that you have to even consider it! You’ll know when your ready and never let someone try to change your mind! My sons are 13&14 and I couldn’t imagine them having sex yet!
