Baby’ (long) birthstory

Baby Noah Paul was born on 3/29/19 weighing 8 lbs 8 oz at 9:19 am. I was 40 weeks and 6 days along and my doctor refused to let me go past 41 weeks so I had to have an induction, which I was nervous about. I went on the night before already dilated to a 1.5 and was given Cytotec to help me dilate further. Around 11 i was dilated to a 2, was given another dose and contractions hit me like a freight train. I went in hoping for a natural labor but immediately started to beg for an epidural. Because I’m a FTM they said I wasn’t far enough along to give me one and to try to sleep through contractions. But holy hell they were the worst pain I’ve felt in my life. They offered morphine which i took, but it only helped calm me down temporarily. By 2 am I was screaming and crying with every contraction, and they started pitocin at that point, which unbelievably still made contractions stronger and more painful, but I was only getting them 3-4 times in 10 minutes and my doctor wanted me having them a solid 5 times every 10 minutes before starting my epidural. Around 5 am i was still balling with every contraction so they agreed to give me my epidural as soon as the anesthesiologist could, which ended up being around 6:30/7. Praise Jesus for that. Because of how slowly I had been dilating they warned it might not be as effective by the time i give birth which they didn’t expect to be until evening, but after receiving the epidural i dilated quickly to a 5, then a 7 within an hour. They broke my water and 15 minutes later I was dilated to a 9. Not long after I started pushing, spent maybe half an hour max pushing and he was born at 9:19am! I was thrilled to have had such a short labor for my first birth. But not long after they laid my baby on me for skin to skin I felt dizzy and like I was going to pass out. I instantly let my husband and mom know and had them take the baby because something was wrong, and I pretty much passed out after that. Turned out i had a 2nd degree tear which wasn’t bad but I tore right through an artery and lost WAY too much blood. I had to have a blood transfusion and am still weak days later. They have me on iron supplements as well to help with all the blood loss. Overall a smooth birth up until i tore which was honestly a little traumatic. Just needed to get my story off my chest and talk about it. My recovery will be a little longer due to how weak i still am, which is discouraging.
