Should I time my contractions?

I'm 37w2d today and I've been having very mild contractions all day. It's my first time getting them. They are not painful at all but they are frequent. Should I be timing them? Should they be strong/painful for it to mean labour? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm a FTM and clueless 😅

You could just check them every now and then. They should be pretty frequent if you’re in established labour though. My hospital says there should be 2-3 minutes between them when I give them a call/come in :) x

You can time them if you want but my doctor said to only go to labor and delivery if they are so painful I can’t talk or walk during them or if my water broke. I don’t have any health complications either.
