Rice cereal?

Hello ladies actually a dec 1st mom here. But the December group isn’t nearly as active as you guys so I thought I would bring my question here. I’m on the fence about rice cereals and looking for opinions as to why and why not you’ll be giving them to baby!

We’re saying no to rice cereal for many reasons, but here’s a quick infographic that explains the top reasons.

In addition to avoiding rice cereal altogether, we will be delaying oatmeal until he’s older. It’s been found that Amylase (the enzyme which allows babies to digest and break down complex grains) isn’t present in their salivary glands until their molars come in.

Hi there! We’re doing gerber oatmeal because the rice cereal was a little too constipating for my 20 week old. He is loving it lol and we have also tried some veggie purées too! He seems super ready for more food in addition to his milk feeds and our pediatrician ok’d it at his 4mo. checkup.

I started my son off with oatmeal instead of rice cereal because it was the only grain I found in an organic non gmo option. I mix with breast milk or formula and he loves it!

My son will not and I mean screams and cries and turns his head away he’s 5 months old if we try to give him any purée or cereal! So we started with really small chunks of soft food and he loves chicken look up BLW!
