Getting induced tomorrow - please share your induction stories with me.

Sa

Hi guys,

Tomorrow I’m getting induced and I’m a first time mum. So far I’ve had 3 membrane sweeps and been told by two midwives that my cervix was soft and started to dilate - I had contractions for 15 hours Monday through to Tuesday, got admitted to hospital and after being hooked onto a drip of saline, another membrane sweep, monitored for 5 hours I got sent home and told I wasn’t in labour, nor was my cervix dilated. My baby’s heartbeat was going faster than usual and also my blood pressure was really high - everything calmed down and I was discharged.

I’m currently 40 weeks and 4 days, getting induced tomorrow, was due for induction Saturday but I think they felt bad for me and my partner and they have brought it forward a couple of days as my partner has already took paternity as of Tuesday.

Now I’m told that once I’m in hospital I will not be leaving until I’ve had my baby which is fine, been told I’ll be having a pessary inserted every 6 hours while I’m there and being monitored. All while having internals and hooked up to a drip to help start contractions if all else fails, I got showed a long plastic hook thing that they said they’ll be breaking my waters with if needs be. I’m nervous as well because this will start at 6pm, but my partner has to leave me at 9pm as that’s when visiting hours are over.

Feeling positive and excited I’ll be meeting our little princess soon. But also scared that my partner won’t be there like we both want him to be throughout the whole process.

Has anyone got any stories about your induction and how it went and how you dealt with it - I know I aren’t the first person to be induced, but I would love to hear stories as I am v v scared. 🥰
