Should restaurant workers wear gloves?

For example at a pizzeria, the CASHIER grabs the money and the food without gloves on! Or at least have one person dealing with the money and another person taking care of the order.

Fast food and cheap restaurants, yes. Especially when the people cleaning dishes and handling money are also handling food.
But in a nice restaurant with an actual chef, I don’t think it’s necessary. Or in a setting like a bakery, where hands are washed before doing anything. 
Honestly, food prep gloves are not sterile. And the wearer is touching all over the gloves when putting them on anyway. If hands are washed before touching food, it’s more sanitary than gloves.

There's standards and health department inspections for a reason.
Proper glove procedure is wash your hands, then put on the gloves. Every time you change your gloves, you're supposed to wash your hands again. You have to change your gloves any time you touch something that could be contaminated. So for example, if you crack an egg into a pan, that egg shell could have salmonella so you have to change gloves before touching anything else. If using utensils such as tongs to handle food, it is unnecessary to wear gloves because your hands are not touching the food, no bacteria can be spread from your hands to the food. If a food service worker touches the wrong end of the utensil or the utensil touches something contaminated, the worker is supposed to take that utensil back to the dish area and get a clean one. Any time a food service worker handles a dirty dish they are to wash their hands. If a food service worker goes from handling money to then handling food, with or without utensils or gloves, they are supposed to wash their hands. 
Not following these procedures is a violation of health standards and you should report it to the manager, if you see it consistently happening it's a training issue and you need to report the restaurant to the health department. Touching the casing of the food, such as the paper bag or pizza box to hand it off to a customer does not count as handling food, nor should it.

In pizzerias it's understandable why they don't, and why we weren't required to when I managed a Domino's.
Have you ever tried to handle fresh dough with gloves?? Yeah it doesn't work 😂
We were however required to wear hats, and aprons, and we had to wash our hand any time we stepped away or up to the make line. Most of the time our cahsiers didn't never even touched the food, they just rang up orders, took money, and put labels on boxes.

I was a manager at many food places including papa johns and little caesars you are not required to wear gloves to handle food however there is a mandatory Rule that states employees must wash their hands every 30 minutes or when switching stations or when you coming from outside , smoking , bathroom etc. Basically hygiene 101 I would literally have to write up employees for not washing hands I second that it is disgusting For pizza restaurants to not require gloves however have you ever tried to separate pepperoni slices with gloves on? It's freaking impossible man LOL 🤣

When I was working in fast food, a lot of time I would ring people up, and make the food; it only takes a couple seconds to put gloves on. smh. 😩

Speaking for pizza places stretching dough with gloves on is a pain in the ass. That's why we have sinks. If we have to do something else we wash our our hands before we go back to the makeline. Plus, being realistic.... That food is going through a 500+ degree oven.... Ain't no germ surviving that. But if you see someone going from register to food without watching, you should absolutely be saying something..... It's an oer violation.
