How can I motivate my bf???

My boyfriend is EXTREMELY unmotivated and views himself as a failure. 
I’m trying to motivate him to start getting his life together. He’s 27, and works minimum wage($8.25). So I’ve been telling him he should try to look into certificate programs, that can help him make a little more. It’s either he doesn’t want to do it or doesn’t think he can. 
I know I shouldn’t force him into anything. But he talks about starting a family with me constantly. But if he’s not attempting to get a better paying job then it’s not gonna happen. 
What should I do to help motivate him?

You cant really do anything for someone who doesnt want more. People have to want to do better in order to actually try.

If you wanna get somewhat romantic... 😉 why not make him a resume and cover letter? I did this for my boyfriend and he really liked it as a gift! Haha. But it's helped him land a few opportunities and has been confident since then. It's gotten to a point where he's personalizing his resume more since i helped him get started.

I understand you don’t want to force him. But you love him and the fact that you want to motivate him means that you care and you want to see him LEVEL up and that’s really sweet of you. You can pray for him and you encourage him. Who knows maybe you all can both do something together. Continue to plant seeds of encouragement in his life and believe that they will bloom. Words are important maybe he doesn’t see him leveling up. Encourage him, one step at a time.

Maybe start by pushing him to apply for job that requires basic skills but pay a bit more. I make around $21/hr and I haven’t completed my post-sec program yet.
