It smells like hay?

I just got an ounce of weed, it looks amazzinnngg, huge nugs, covered in trichomes and so sticky even if you barely touch it it sticks to your fingers. The only problem is it smells like hay, not like weed. So I'm confused because it looks so good but the smell just throws me off. Does the smell really have anything to do with how high it gets you or how good it is? I'm guessing they just didnt dry it right or picked it early/late but I'm just wondering if it really even matters, or if it means it sucks
