How does it feels if your water broke?

FTM here. As I was sitting on bed, I felt a sudden gush(small patch) of water gushed out and my underwear has a wet patch.
It was clear colour with a little bit of white discharge, odourless.. 
If your water broke, how does it feel? I dont feel any contraction. And how often will the water leak/gush of water coming out from your vagina? How should I confirm that my water broke before I panic and call the doctor?

With my first my water broke and only a little came out and it ran down my leg and stopped because baby’s head stopped the leak. I had no contractions at all. My water broke with my 4th baby I heard a pop sound and felt a gush and had very mild contractions.

When i sit up in my bed my belly presses down pretty good also with my baby's little head putting pressure on my bladder when trying to adjust myself in my bed i will notice an increase of discharge because im sitting up more properly. There a huge increase of discharge in later pregnancy and it can almost feel like you went your self minus actually peeing. I doubt its your water its really hard to break your water but if you're really concerned that it could be call your doc and they will probably either have you come in or go to labor and delivery to be checked.

Place a pad in your panties to monitor how much you could be leaking, if so. They hospital may ask you to do this also so they can test the fluid.

You feel a gush you can’t control of like water I would call your doctor and ask her if you should go in

It’s not always a huge gush. Sometimes it’s more of a slow leak. Amniotic fluid is mostly clear and smells...almost salty, like ocean water. Not like urine at all. Wear a pad for a bit and if you’re still leaking after a couple of hours, check with your doc.

If it was your water breaking then it will continue to leak out. Also, when my water broke with my first I had no contractions at all, so just because you aren’t experiencing contractions doesn’t mean it wasn’t your water breaking. You could always go in and get checked just to be on the safe side!

I think the baby can act like a cork and keep it from gushing out all at once. When my water broke at home I was going down a steep stairwell and a little fluid would leak with each step down. I thought I was peeing my pants trying to rush to the bathroom

With my first it felt like I was peeing but I couldn’t control it. It was definitely more than a wet patch but not like a giant puddle you see on TV. I was in active labor like 9cm when it happened.
