What type of baby monitor are you getting and why?

Tell me what kind/brand you’re getting and how you decided that. I’m struggling to decide, I worry about the security of WiFi monitors and that they are very dependent on the strength of your internet to be reliable. If a video monitor came with two parent units I would be sold, but that just isn’t the case.

We have one child already and I chose to go with an audio only monitor because I knew that if I had a video monitor I would spend way too much time watching it that it would not be a good choice for me. They are cheaper and we haven’t had any problems with the one we received off of our registry!

Following cause I have no idea what to buy. We have a two story home and all the bedrooms are upstairs. I feel like I just need the audio monitor,  but I am not sure.

We got the Nest camera since no “non WiFi” monitor will work for us, our bedroom is all the way on the opposite side of our daughters’ rooms. We have a very secure WiFi network (I have a degree in network security) and have not had any issues with any creepers hacking into our network. We pay $50/year (per camera) for 10 days of cloud storage thru the Nest so it’s nice to be able to playback video if we had any issues with our daughter.

We bought the Arlo baby monitor (they had it way cheaper at Costco!) and we really like it. We wanted something that was compatible with Alexa and our phones. All you do is download the Arlo app on your phone and you use your phone as the screen, and you can do it on more than one device. Arlo is a home security system so they really seem to have it together with privacy and security.
My hubby is AV guy and was impressed with the video and sound quality as well. We’ve only used it watch our dog so far 😂 but we really like it!

Video non-WiFi. I’ve heard of people hacking baby cameras through WiFi and talking to/watching the baby. Creepy af.

We have Foscam with our son and have loved it. We can have multiple cameras on the same network.

I have the Angel Care video monitor and used it with my son. Not only does it monitor that he is breathing but I can see him and hear him. It gives me so much piece of mind and has helped me sleep.

Audio (I assume-someone is letting me borrow theirs). I didn’t even use one with the first 2, I just figure since it’ll be summer I need something for when I’m out in the backyard
