Can I asked to be induced?

Question

So I was wondering if I am allowed to request to be induced when the time comes? I am only 27 weeks now and my due date is July 4th. I am just super worried because we live over an hour away from the hospital and only have one car. My fiance works half an hour from where we live and I am super worried about going into labor and not making it to the hospital in time. So does anyone know if I can talk to my doctor about getting induced around 38 weeks and if that is an option?

I don’t think that living an hour away from the hospital would be a good enough reason for them to induce you. And with induced birth before baby is ready you risk complications and such births often end up in c-sections, so I wouldn’t do it. Also labors in general usually take loooong so there is usually plenty of time to get to the hospital (though not always for sure)

I chose to be induced at 39 weeks with my first and plan to do the same this time around. We live on a farm, and if we don’t plan ahead i would most likely be laboring on my own while my husband finishes milking or other chores. So it’s definitely a possibility...just check with your doctor ☺️

I live 1.5 away from hospital and husband works 30 minutes away. With my first, my doc said they wouldn't induce until 41 weeks but if I came in in early labor, they wouldn't turn me away like they do some moms who live close to the hospital. 
I ended up going into labor at 39w4d. We made it to the hospital in plenty of time, baby was born 6.5 hrs after arriving to the hospital. First baby typically is a longer labor.

They won’t do it at 38 weeks without medical reasons. My doctor said he will induce anytime after 39 weeks, and I share the same due date with you. I am also four hours, and an entire state away from my hospital, but my doctor that I had with my daughter was the same way. I am staying in the state I’ll be delivering in for the last several weeks of pregnancy. I still waited until 40 weeks with my first daughter, and I will wait until close to then with this one (unless she decides to come earlier).

It doesn’t hurt to ask, however I don’t think they’ll induce for such a reason. Especially not 2 whole weeks early. If they agree then they may just induce on tour due date. A friend of mine was able to request induction but only if she went a day over her due date (which she did) but that resulted in a LONG labor and a c section 😕

I’m super interested to know this as well. I’ve never really thought about it I have just assumed with vaginal delivery the only way to be induced is if there are complications or if you go over 40 weeks.

It doesn't hurt to ask. Everyone has their own opinion but because our baby is being born with a cleft lip we have to deliver at a specific hospital that's about an hour and a half away and doctor wants to induce around 37-38 weeks so we can avoid spontaneous labor. He may say no but you wont know unless you ask.

My husband works 2 hours away from where we live until he gets transferred back home. When I told my OB the situation he offered for us to pick a date and he could induce me for labor, but however we are deciding to go naturally. He works overnights and would be able to leave work as soon as I call to tell him I’m going into Labor.

My Dr induced me a day early because it was my 3rd baby an I lived almost 2 hours away an I was insanely scared I wouldn't make it an so was he.

I brought something similar up to my dr and they just said they could schedule an induction on my due date. I live 1.5 hrs away from the hospital this is my 4th pregnancy and I have delivered all the other 3 at least a week early.  My first I was in labor for 8.5 hrs 2nd 4 hrs and 3rd just under 2 hrs... so with this one im highly concerned I won't make it to the hospital but the best they could do is an induction at 40weeks... so i'm just crossing my fingers and hoping we make it to the hospital in time!!
