My water just broke...now what?

So my water just broke, but I have had zero contractions yet. I called my doctor who said I have about 4 hours and then I’ll need to come in to the hospital. I know it’s probably a dumb question, but does this mean that I’m FOR SURE having this baby soon? (I’m 38+2).

You now have a 24 hour window to deliver without risk of infection. It took me 20 hours, those contractions will likely kick in shortly!! Good luck mama!

Yes when my water broke.  I decided to clean, do laundry,  shave, shower, sh*t, and grab my last meal before delivery.  I was strep b neg and didnt have contractions

Yes congrats!! Your water bag basically helps keep bacteria away from baby. Now that it is broken the baby will need to be delivered to reduce the risk of infections.

This happened with my first. My water broke at 3:30 am and I called and they told me to wait until I got contractions. I called again at 9 am with nothing. They told me to come in at 12 to get looked at. Needed a pitocin drip to help labor along but baby arrived that next morning!

After my water broke with my first, I cleaned the house and as soon as I did that, my contractions started :P

My water started leaking around 5am on April 3rd, went to the hospital around 8am the same day, baby was born at 4:01pm the same day. So about a little less than 12 hrs for me.

My water just broke...now what?
