I need some serious advice

okay so I've been talking to this guy for 3 months we've only hung out once but we have talked about getting together again my friend is telling me I should just be straight up and ask him where he's sees this going and what does he want out of this. Honestly I want to ask that but I'm worried it might be to soon and I'm worried of scaring him off
