How would you baby proof this?! Legally I can't install a lock to the handle but my 2 year old has been caught climbing up & opening the window and it opens all the way

I like the baby gate idea!! The ledge is deep enough I would think it would fit. A bookcase would block the light...I’m a fan of natural light.

Can you get those metal clips that only open the window an inch?

I would buy hooks and put them on both sides of the window and hang a baby gate to block the entire window. There is also a mesh window guard you can put, on amazon or a charlie guard. The baby gate idea, if its high enough you can lift and move it in case of fire.

Those are sliding windows right? Put a  wooden dowel in the bottom track so they cant slid.
