Okay so here’s my little birth story for those wondering.
I was in lake Charles where Tyler’s been working, helping him get packed up to come home. I was supposed to be coming home that day (March 27) and he would be coming home April 1st. Since he was on night shift, we woke up about 1:00 that afternoon. As soon as I sat up in bed, there was a small gush of liquid. I KNEW I didn’t pee on myself but I went to the restroom anyways and kept leaking liquid for about 10 more minutes after that. I was pretty sure my water had partially ruptured, so we went to the ER of the nearest hospital which ended up being West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. They did a test on the liquid, it was in fact my water breaking. They moved me to a labor and delivery room, I spoke to the midwife who was supposed to deliver me (more on that in a minute) and they brought in a birthing ball and basically just let me labor, checking periodically. I was contracting good, dilating about a cm per hour.
They came in and checked me at 8:21 and I was 5cm. The contractions got GOD AWFUL and I had a weird pressure. It was taking everything in me to scream through them. I went in saying I wouldn’t get an epidural, but I finally caved at this point and asked for the epidural because I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore so they called the anesthesiologist who was 30 mins away. I also asked for pain medicine shortly before  this point because HOLY CRAP it was bad. They gave me Demerol, about 40 minutes later (probably around 8:30 at this point) I insisted I needed to poop. It was not in fact a poop. After I started screaming I yelled for Tyler to call the nurse and help me back to the bed because the pain medicine had just made me super drowsy. It didn’t actually help the pain.
As soon as I got back on the bed they checked me and I was fully complete, and ellie was making her way down the birth canal. The anesthesiologist showed up at this point but it was WAY too late... and the Demerol was basically out of my system. so I was doing it natural 😬. The midwife was also 10 minutes away because nobody expected me to go from 5cm to birth in 22 minutes. So, the nurses delivered baby Ellie 😂
I pushed for maybe 15 minutes..MAYBE. And at 8:43 she was born! 6 pounds 6.3 oz and 19 inches long 🥰
I had a few stitches but nothing crazy. She came out face up so I tore horizontally not vertically. And so far, recovery hasn’t been awful. And we love our sweet girl so so much 🥰
