Itchy Stitches?? Is this normal?

I gave birth 2 and a half weeks ago, I needed a vacuum and I have no idea how many stitches I have, but my doctor said “quite a few.” I had a bilateral tear and tore mostly on the inside but I have just one stitch at the bottom of my vagina near my perineum. I was given benzocaine ointment as well as hydrocortisone and I’ve been using those every time I use the bathroom, but when it’s been a while since I’ve used them or if I forget to, my vagina gets SO itchy. It drives me nuts because it’s not like I can scratch it while it’s healing. It’s almost worse than actual pain. Is this normal? What do I do?
