Using spoons and forks?

My 18month old is just now starting to try to use a fork and spoon but still needs practice. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Update : he has got alot better but the yogart that day was a bad choice on my part. I got some new spoons and forks so i think that helped lot as well

We’re working on it! Some foods she does really well with, and others devolve into eating with hands. 🤷‍♀️ it’s all about practice!

He’s doing an awesome job! We all start somewhere:) my daughter uses a fork and spoon and half ways through gives up and uses her hands if it’s something she can grab like green beans or pasta. The mess is all part of learning:)

Adorable ! And no. My LO started using fork and spoons early on. She figured it out quickly. 
She will get there mama, practice ! Let her have her fork and spoon at anytime of day and get her used to it 🙃

Oh yes, my son still uses his hands but tries with forks and spoons. They’ll get it sooner than later!

Yikes!! I thought my daughter was messy 😳
Have you tried toddler sized spoons and maybe put some yogurt in a smaller container. I use Munchkin forks and spoons. And I do half a yobaby yogurt at a time. So it’s easier to handle a smaller amount. Your child looks like they think it’s art class 😂 good luck!!!
Mine still wants to try milk and cereal by herself. And I’m like nope... not happening. She does the whole upside down spoon thing. So that’s just not even logistically possible haha.

We give my son a fork, but I’m afraid of spoons because I hate messes lol. I’d love it if he could feed yogurt or soup to himself, though!
