Joining the Military after Child/Children?

Question

Has anyone joined the military (specifically Air Force) after having kids? Do you regret it? Is their a lot of time away from your kids? I hear the Air Force is most similar to the traditional work force. I know there are deployments, but beyond that? How long are AF deployments typically? What advice would you give to another mother thinking about joining? Is it a selfish decision?

I joined the Army after kids, yes I regret doing it. However it has given us way more than we had before and I would do it all over again to be able to give them insurance, constant money coming in, and the ability to travel. I personally hate it but my family benefits so much from it so I suck it up. I'm hoping to reclass and maybe I'll find more joy in it next enlistment.

I joined prior to having my babies. The military has great benefits but you will spend a good time away.  First basic, then tech school. That time will depend on your job. TDYs( temporary duty) that pop up, and of course deployments. You could end up on a base out of the country and that may be hard if you depend on your family alot. I'm thankful that I have a job that has steady hours so I can spend time with my family.  The health insurance is great seeing as my daughter likes to get sick.  Depending on your reasons for joining it could be great for your family
