Do you calculate pregnancy from LMP or your “ovulation” date?

Hi so I know that doctors calculate from LMP but for some reason I keep wondering if I should just calculate from my ovulation date since I know when it was 2 weeks later 🤔  
My LMP was March 10th and today is April 10th  but I ovulated around March 24th. So am I 4 weeks or 2 🙃 thanks! I just want to make sure when I go to the doctor something is visible even if I’m technically not that far along.

It’s standard practice to go by LMP. Doctors know what it means to go by lmp, they are aware you weren’t really pregnant before ovulation. They go by that anyway because a lot of women don’t know when they ovulate. So they understand that when you say 7 weeks by lmp, that you’re really 5 weeks by ovulation. Just go by lmp. They will get you in at the right time.

The way pregnancy works is weird. When you ovulate you’re “technically” already 2 weeks pregnant because they go off of my the first day of your last cycle. So you’d be 4 weeks. They will adjust accordingly if baby measures big or small because several factors (ovulation, implantation) can change baby’s due date. I tracked with OPKS and still measured a week behind of what I thought I should be, but baby is now 23 weeks! (: but for scheduling wise, tell them your LMP and go from there!

I went to the health dept when I found out I was pregnant. They went off my LMP, I told them my due date would be wrong bc of ovulating late, based on my ovulation I would have been due June 21. They said I was going to be due June 12, and I would have been 9 weeks at my first appointment, I was only 7 weeks 5 days at my appointment and my due date is June 21. I’d always go with ovulation, only if you know when you ovulate since some people do ovulate on time and others ovulate late. Hope that helped. 😊
