So special so rare
My son came into the world on Wednesday the 3rd of April at 1:10 am weighing a hefty 9lb 4oz. He looked just like his older sister. He acted like any normal baby would. Fed well straight away and went down to sleep. On Thursday night I just couldn't get him to settle. I was feeling like a failure and exhausted as I had lost a good bit of blood and on top of that had a 3rd degree tear. I was miserable. ☹ midwife offered to take him for a couple of hours so i could rest. He vomited and was throwing his leg up stiffly. Something didn't sit right. Friday morning my world stopped spinning when he began breathing too fast. He was rushed half way across the country to the specialist hospital for metabolic disorders and was in ICU on a ventilator and was hooked up to so many infusion tubes which they put through his umbilical cord. He spent three days like this till he was breathing normally. He was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder which is called urea cycle disorder and his type is citrillnaemia. It is life threatening which will need monitoring for life. Ive alot to learn on how I'm going to feed him and how to cope with this life changing situation but I just want to show off my special boy to the world as I'm so happy he is with us today as it could of been a different outcome. This is Thomas my little warrior.
