My experience with clomid

Shelly

I am 26 and just found out I am pregnant after one round of 50mg clomid and Ovidrel injection (trigger shot).

I stop taking birth control 6 months before my wedding in 2015. I started using opk’s in January of 2018. September 2018 I had to find a new OBGYN. Well I found an amazing doctor. I thought I had a good doctor before but they weren’t concerned that I hadn’t been on birth control for three years and never been pregnant. My first appointment he had me come into his office and talk about my history and plans. Which I have never had any doctor of mine call me into their office to talk. So I told him that I haven’t been on birth control for over 3 years and have never been pregnant. Then he said “let’s figure out what’s going on”. This doctor gave me his work email and he responds within 24hours. I have had blood work done, an x-ray of my uterus (hsg) and my husband had 2 Semen analysis. My husbands test results came back great. So far everything was ok with me but I still wasn’t getting pregnant. Frustrating as that was I kept my hopes up and my doctor was willing to do what he could from me before sending to a fertility specialist.

On CD3 I started my 50mg clomid for 5 days. My symptoms were hot flashes, cramping, made my period heavier, and mood swings (mainly I was cranky all the time). On CD12 I went in for a follicle scan and had one follicle sized at 20mm. My doctor at least wanted one that was 18mm. That night a gave myself the ovidrel injection. Then my husband and I had “scheduled intercourse” (how my doctor put it) CD11 thru CD16. Majority of people say every other day is fine but we were going to do everything we could. CD22 I went and has blood work done to make sure I ovulated. That came back good. So now it was the waiting game. On CD23 my breast became so sore and each day kept getting worse. Normally before I start my period my breast don’t become sore til the day before I start. CD 24 light cramping started. CD25 still had all the other symptoms. Then nipple sensitivity and peeing more often came. I am pretty good at holding my bladder all day but this was different. It was more often and like I had to pee bad fast. I finally broke down on CD27 and took a pregnancy test. It was positive!!!!! I think I’m still in shock. I am not very far along but I wanted to share my experience with clomid. Also I suggest if you are having trouble talk to your doctor. Then if you feel like your doctor is brushing you off. Get a new doctor. I drive an hour for mine and it is worth it.

I hope this helps some people. Baby dust to everyone!!!
