I was on meds for my anxiety and depression before I got pregnant but my doctor took me off of them when I mentioned trying to get pregnant as he wasn’t comfortable enough prescribing an antidepressant while trying to get pregnant.

I talked to my OBGYN today at my apt about getting back on something and she prescribed me Zoloft. She said it was the most researched/studied antidepressant with pregnant woman but she did mention if on an antidepressant, especially in the 3rd trimester puts the baby in the position of having withdrawals from it after being born. She said it helps to breastfeed after because then a small amount of the medication still gets passed onto the baby, but I haven’t really decided if I’m going to breastfeed or not.

Has anyone been on an antidepressant during pregnant and experienced anything like this with their newborn ?
