Is 10 weeks and 3 days too early to announce?

I have heard my baby heart beat and the doctor says the baby looks great. I haven't had any spotting my whole pregnancy. Overall, I have been healthy. My mother thinks it's too soon to announce and I value her opinion, but I think I'll be fine. She is worry I'll miscarry and regret announcing it. I don't think I would regret it. Opinions?

After you hear the heartbeat there’s literally like a 1% chance of miscarrying! I’m 8 words 3 d and if we weren’t waiting til we know the gender/ Mother’s Day, I would have announced already.

The whole heartbeat thing (less chance of MC after seeing a heartbeat) is a myth, but the truth is that the farther along you are, the lower your chance is. 10 weeks is a pretty low risk of MC, but it does happen. That said, you can’t let that fear run your life. If you tell pretty much any time before baby is viable somewhere around 24-27 weeks, there’s always a chance SOMETHING goes wrong. But the chance is very low. Being a parent is completely an experience in being scared about one thing or another happening to your kid all the damn time. You can’t let that stop you from enjoying your baby. If you want to announce, go ahead.

I announced around 10 weeks in my last full term pregnancy. Miscarriage risk gradually declines day by day and doesn’t make a sudden leap at 12 weeks. There’s only something like a .5% greater chance of miscarriage at 10 weeks vs. 12, so it’s up to you whether that’s significant to you. You will always hear stories of people who had later losses no matter how long you wait, but the risk of miscarriage at 10 weeks is about 2% and around 14 weeks it’s 1%. 
I’m 10w3d and personally the only reasons I’m still waiting are because I’ll be getting my genetic test results this coming week and feel more comfortable waiting for those since I’m older and higher risk, and also since it lines up so well we thought it would be fun to be able to tell a bunch of extended family in person on Easter instead of them all hearing it through the grapevine. But I don’t think my odds of loss will be significantly different a couple weeks from now.

No one is my family can keep a secret. The only one who didn’t know when everyone else did was my dad and he was lecturing me last week about being over when I was sick (I had morning sickness) and I finally snapped and said he wasn’t about to catch a pregnancy. He didn’t skip a beat before starting to lecture me about money. 😂 I was about 9 weeks when everyone found out.

It’s definitely a personal choice. If you’re ready to announce then go for it :) it’s possible but your odds of miscarriage are low at this point. I’m hesitant of when I will announce because I lost my first at 24 weeks. I didn’t announce with my second until 20 weeks because I couldn’t hide it anymore. This go around I haven’t decided. I am being monitored closely but my anxiety is still at its peak.

I would wait just to be safe. My coworker was pregnant and everything looked perfect, no spotting, etc. and miscarried at 11 weeks. I’ve almost announced early too but I keep thinking how awful it would be to share the news and the next week have to post about something so terrible and private as a miscarriage. But in the end it’s your decision!

I’m only 7 weeks and I have had two ultra sounds and got to see the heartbeat (131) and I have already announced some people choose to wait I couldn’t contain it 😂
