There are far too many weak-minded people that hide behind religion because they want to do bad things and feel that they will be forgiven by repenting after the fact. It's a ridiculous way to live. These people are not moral, just too weak to decide to be good on their own.

I grew up Catholic thought now I am an Agnostic Atheist. The current pope has many harsh views of the current Amercian state of Christianity. He openly states that the hypocrisy in the minds of today's Christians would cause Jesus and God to deny them. 
I honestly trust the good intentions of Athens more than those of Christians. 
In my opinion when Christians do something kind its because their sky daddy told them to. When Atheist are good people its because they are good people. No one is telling them they have to be or they will be punished. They are good simply because its what is best for humanity. Christians are only "good" because they believe someone is always watching them waiting to punish them for being "bad."

Here's the thing: the mortality of humans came WAY BEFORE the bible. The persons who wrote the bible merely captured what was already true about how people interacted with one another. So in some sense it's an observation of the commandments of social homosapiens cohabitation. So, as far as I'm concerned, you CAN use the bible to explain the morality of humans that is intrinsic. Where that morality is built from is very old brain instincts. So, you go back to 'how' we got here, not whether or not we have morals, that continues as the subject of debate.

Uhh people can still be good people without a religious text. Hello! You’re so ignorant! Like seriously get a clue. And also, there are many people who interpret the Bible! And news flash: Christians or Muslim or Jewish people or atheists or ANYONE could be a immoral person: Bible or not. I think atheism makes a lot of sense. That and Judaism. In my opinion, haha in my most humble opinion, Christianity can be very extreme and a lot of the Christians I have met are irrational and have tried to “push” their religion on me. Change my mind! I like to be challenged and open my mind.
In my opinion, can can have whatever view you want: political, RELIGIOUS etc just DON’T oppress other people. You come across as really self-righteous. You should check yourself  before making abrasive comments like that that are not BACKED by DATA. As Jerry Maguire said in the hit film, Jerry Maguire  “show me the money”, well user, SHOW ME the data.
