Stinging/burning nipples??

My daughter is 8 days old today and I was struggling in the beginning with breastfeeding..cracked bleeding nipples due to her not matching correctly. I’ve been going to a LC and using nipple shields and things are better except my nipples kind of sting/burn both when I’m feeding her and randomly after. Anyone have this happen or know why it does?

I think this is one of the biggest reason woman stop bf in the beginning!  It hurts like hell! lol But it does go away, I hate to say it this way but you just kinda suffer through it and in a couple weeks you dont even feel it anymore. Im sorry your going through it, I know I use to sit and just clench my jaw or cry, This is something that needs to be talked about more so moms have warning!!!

You can buy nipple cream for that. In the beginning I struggled but I haven't needed it in months.

See if your midwife or doctor will prescribe APNO cream for your nipples. It’s the most amazing stuff to heal them fast. If it weren’t for this cream I don’t think my sensitive nipples would have survived the first 8 weeks.

Lanolin is the best! Use it after every feeding! My LC said there was no need to wash off before next feeding, because the remaining residue will not affect baby.

That burning/stinging feeling might be an infection. That's what happened to me.
