Labor near?

I had my 38 week appointment Friday (yesterday) . I was told I'm not dilated but my cervix is softening. They also said the baby's head is low! Has this happened or is currently happening to anyone else and if so when did you go into labor?

That’s exactly where I was Thursday! I’m currently having an incredible increase of Braxton Hicks but no labor yet.

I was 36 weeks when they first checked me, I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced, baby was at a station -2 and cervix was posterior. I’m now 39+2 and still at the same everything. All of this can change quickly though so don’t be discouraged. Just keep active and don’t stress about it.

At my 37 week I was not making progress. Went in one week later and was 50% effaced and 1cm. It doesn’t really determine anything. Just when your body decides it’s time and baby is ready to go.
