How does body temperature and ovulation relate?

I know I have to check my bbt but how do I know when I ovulated according to that. I don’t see my numbers changing by a lot. Can someone explain please?

After ovulation, BBT rises by about one half to one degree Fahrenheit and stays elevated until your next period. By taking your BBT every day and keeping track of the results, you can estimate when ovulation might have occurred.
