The effect of surgery on menstrual cycles
I went into the hospital on February 10th due to horrible abdominal pain. I had gotten my period the day before so I thought they were just cramps. But I tried a heating pad and taking a warm bath with essential oils and epsom salts and everything I could think of. Turned out that my bowel had essentially telescoped on itself and I had to have that section removed. It was removed laparoscopicly (meaning they did everything through 4 small holes in my stomach rather than making a big incision) but it resulted in 4 additional abdominal wounds. There was also a bowel obstruction that didnt get fixed or any better. They went in and did surgery again on the 16th. This time they did have to cut me all the way open. While surgery was being preformed the surgeon perforated my bowel resulting in spillage that had to be cleaned up. They didnt do a good job cleaning it up because I wound up with an infection after the surgery was completed. I spent 16 days in this hospital and was released on February 26th with a giagantic open wound to take care of. My period lasted 8 days. I spent 10 days at home before deciding to go to the emergency room at a different hospital on March 9th hoping that I would have better luck there. I was expecting to get my period so I brought tampons with me. They did another bowel surgery and also did a procedure to drain 4-5 abscesses that were left due to the other surgeons horrible work. I spent s total of 20 days in this hospital and was released on March 30th with 32 staples down my abdomen but was feeling SO MUCH BETTER. Finally! But I never got my period. I associated it with all of the surgery and stress that I went through. I had my staples removed on april 3rd and have been feeling much better. However I am having some pains in my right side. I am having a cat scan done on Tuesday the 16th to make sure it's not another abscess. I have a follow up appointment with my doctor on Wednesday the 17th to go over the results. I have a bad feeling but hate to think I'm gonna be back in the hospital AGAIN. My boyfriend and I were ready to begin trying to convince in February after my period! But of course I have all of this horrible luck! I still haven't had my period even though being home has been such a relief.
I guess my questions are-
Does anyone have any experience with surgery preventing them from getting their period????
And does anyone have any tips or advice on how to push my body to get my period faster????
Helppppppp!!!!😭
I'm ready to be a mama!!!!😔😢
