Half Muslim, half Christian?

Question

My boyfriend and I are getting really serious, we were having a conversation about how we’d like to raise our future children when we have them. He’s from the Middle East and is Muslim, although he’s not that dedicated to it apparently as he grew up here and kinda adopted most of the American culture. But I know dee down he Still cares about his religion. So do I. I have some issues with my religion but I would still like for my children to know about it and practice it. 
He told me he’d be ok with us raising them to be half Muslim and half Christian. 
So here’s my question: 
Do you guys think it’s possible to successfully raise children in a two religion home? 
If so how would you proceed ?
These are two religions that somehow contradict each other, how do you combine them and teach them to children?

I dont know much but you can teach them both religions and eventually let them choose what they want to practice

I think this will be a very hard task to do. There is no way to be half and half. You’re either Christian and believe in God or you’re not. The best thing to do i guess is for both parents to teach the children your own beliefs and let them pick which they believe as they get older. I have a hard time with this because I’m a Christian and my husband doesn’t go to church or worship in any way so I’m the one who teaches our kids and takes them to church. It’s hard but it’s the only way to teach them who God is.

Honestly, in Islam no it’s not possible. A child should take the religion of their father.  However, in reality you can try to do whatever you want :)

I’m Catholic and my Husband is Baha’i (middle eastern) and we have agree we will raise them with both religion and at age 15 when they are old enough to decide they can be either or! Baha’is are taught every religion and at age 15 they choose if they want to remain Baha’i or switch to something else ..

Of course it is possible! Interfaith families are fairly common where I live / in my family. Some kids end up practicing one religion only, some respect both culturally but don't practice any fully, and some don't believe in either (but are perfectly happy, lovely and tolerant people). Islam and Catholicism may get the specifics different, but in very general terms they have a lot in common as far as core values go, given they both stem from Judaism (monotheistic, emphasis on charity and good deeds, fasting/lent, Eid and Christmas as major celebrations with a focus om giving/charity etc etc.). wel listen, if youre gonna just TEACH them these exist (and i assume others too) and discuss them with your kids once they get to the age where theyd understand too, then i dont see an issue... but if one of you, and i feel its you as you said youd want them to practice it, wants the religion to be involved in their lives, its going to inevutable push the others out. Plain simple if you want your kids to have a communion (Catholic thing) theyll have to swear to believe in Jesus as the Savior and all that, something that Islamism does not accept, as they only see him as one of the prophets, not The prophet, Mohammed. So this is just one example, but even if you only make them go to church and no other ceremony in christianity, i feel there will be vast differences in the two religions that will cause contradictions. Id raise them religiousless but educated, explain what both of y’all believe in, and then have them pick a path once they are somewhat conscious. Religion is not the most important thing to indoctrinate a child with, start thinking of your future kids education rather.
