I have a crush on this guy at work. Do I risk our friendship and tell him I like him or just leave it and suffer in silence? Any thoughts? xx

As a general rule, it's usually better to follow the rule "dont shit where you eat." Dating coworkers so often has very bad repercussions

Nope. 
I remember when I was 16 I was working at a restaurant and started dating our delivery driver. We only dated for a month and I thought he was getting weird and possessive so I broke things off. He kept pestering me at work so I requested to work different shifts than him. Since he could still see the posted schedule he began waiting outside by my car when I got off work and he was literally stalking me. I didn’t feel safe anymore and even though the chefs would start walking me to my car for safety it was just not worth it. I ended up quitting and threatened a restraining order.
Dating at work can be successful but in many instances it can create drama, conflicts at work with peers, unprofessional in the eyes of management and if it goes wrong then you could have a situation like mine. 
My advice - date outside of work.
