Empty sac?

5 weeks 3 days today... I was woken up this morning by BAD period-like cramps.  All weekend I had spotting so this terrified me.  Obgyn clinic didn’t have any availabilities so I went to the ER.  My HCG was 16,384 and an abdominal ultrasound showed a sac.  The sac appeared to be empty tho and they didn’t see a heartbeat or anything.  Anyways, the doctor said I didn’t miscarry and everything looks good but is an empty looking sac normal at 5 weeks?

Yes there’s nothing to be seen but the gestational sac at that time.

You're only 5 weeks they couldn't detect a heartbeat yet! 10 weeks and over they will be able to then...

Heart beat won't develop until after 6 weeks, ours was viable at 7 weeks.

Absolutely! I went in thinking I was 6 weeks but I was only measuring 4w6d and there was nothing but an empty sac. Perfectly normal!
