It's been almost 5 months since my friend (so close he was like family and always welcome to come and go in my home for years, then dating briefly a few months before he passed) committed suicide. He was in the hospital for days before they took him off of life support and went through multiple surgeries. I spent every hour praying, but I knew deep down there was no way he could recover. I don't think I've been the same since, either. I can never think straight. My dad wants me to go to grief counseling, but I don't even know if I could talk about it without choking up. I already burst into tears multiple times a day. If I thought that talking about it more could help me in any way, I'd do it. I just don't think I'm ready yet. There's no reason that you shouldn't go if you're ready. Suicide is a terrible thing, and I can see how it spreads. He pulled the trigger only about six months after his best friend, and our big friend group has to all check up on each other once a month because we're so afraid of having to bury more when we've already lost 4. You have to talk about it to some degree. It's such a painful thing to experience, and it deserves the time it takes to heal.
