39 weeks 1 day = beautiful baby boy!

Ashley

After a busy couple of weeks I decided to finally share my birth story!

On March 25th I went in for my weekly check up 2 days before I was officially 39 weeks. I wasn’t dilated yet but my blood pressure was high so they decided to admit me the next day for induction. I checked into the hospital on the 26th at 6 pm and they started me on cervidil... I ended up needing 3 total doses before I was finally effaced enough to start pitocin at 930 pm on the 27th. At 8 am on the 28th they broke my waters and that’s when things finally started to progress.

Around 11 am I asked for the epidural because I was starting to get really uncomfortable. After 2 attempts the epidural only successfully numbed my right thigh and it was too late to give me pain meds. I ended up dilating from 2 cm to 10 cm in 2 hours and experiencing the worst pain of my life on my left side (which is where my little guy was positioned). When it was finally time to push at 2:20 I was more than ready for the pain to go away. I successfully only had to push for 40 mins before my little guy arrived 3:04 pm weighing in at 6lbs 12 oz and 20.5 inches long.

Unfortunately he did swallow a lot of fluid and had to be taken to the nursery and be put on oxygen for 1.5 hours... but once we were reunited I didn’t let him out of my sight!
