My first birth experience didn't go as I expected

Tamika

My first birth experience didn't go as I expected. I had a healthy pregnancy up untill 35 weeks. I was having some stomach pain and told my boyfriend that I wasn't feeling the baby move as much. Monday , March 4th 2019 at about 3am we were at the emergency room. They hooked me up to monitor baby's heart rate and contractions. When they took my blood pressure it was very high, and apparently I was having contraction consistently but I wasn't feeling them. They also did an ultrasound to check on the baby and everything was fine. When the doctor came in she told us that I had preeclampsia and I was being admitted, so off to th snuggery we went. Who knew we were going to be there 4 days. We had nothing ready and our baby shower wasn't until March 10th. When we got into the room I changed into my gown and got hooked up to my Iv and they started me on magnesium to lower risk of seizure because of my high blood pressure. Not to long after that we were told that they were going to induce me because of the preeclampsia. I was given a steroid shot for baby's lungs to developer faster. My boyfriend and I were very scared because I was only 35 weeks. After many failed attempts, pitocin, foley balloon, a pill, and also something like a tampon they inserted in the vagina for 12 hours and nothing worked. Finally on the fourth day a doctor came in and said I didn't have preeclampsia I had hypertension. He took me off the magnesium(I was also on labetalol for blood pressure) and monitored my blood pressure. If everything was ok I could be discharged. Thursday March 7th 2019 we finally got discharged. I was sent home with a script for labetlol and a blood pressure cuff and had to check blood pressure 2 times a day. I enjoyed three whole days of freedom. We finally had our baby shower Sunday, March 10th 2019 and it was great we had everything we needed for baby. Monday, March 11th 2019 I had an appointment for and ultrasound and a prenatal checkup. The doctors said everything looked good for baby and I. When we got home I got a call from a doctor and said she talked to the other doctor (the one who got me discharged) and said that they looked over my ultrasound and said I have an abruption and told me I was having a baby today I needed to round up my troops and get to the hospital asap. So that's what we did. We were admitted right away I got back in the gown, got hooked up to iv, off to the O.R. I went for and emergency c section. Our baby boy was born 5lbs 8oz 18in. It was all worth it in the end.
