Potty training tips for little boys? 👶🏼

Anyone have luck using the potty watch? What age did you start potty training with a boy? My son just turned 18 months and I’m eager to start since he will be a big brother in one month lol.

It was hard because my nephew bounces between 3 different caretakers during the week when parents are working, so we started at 2, almost 2.5. I had him for a week in a row and we just stayed home the whole week and he just ran around naked. Took 3 days and was done!

My sons also 18 months and since probably January hes been really interested in the potty. He’ll tug at his diaper or even pull it off and go sit on the potty himself, but he almost never actually has to go, I think he just knows you sit on the toilet naked and he copy’s what he sees. He’s peed twice and pooped once in it. 
You just gotta show him, like as creepy as it sounds let him watch you go to the bathroom, tell him you’re going potty, pee, poop, any words you use, and when you change his diaper say things like “oh you went pee didn’t you?” Or “you went poop?” So he knows what those things are. And then ask him a lot if he has to go potty, see if he catches on to what it means. The first time my son peed in the potty we had sat him down and gave him a phone to watch cartoons on so he’d be distracted and stay sitting, and sure enough he went pee and we all made a big deal about it to him and he’s caught on that he goes to the bathroom on the potty.

I don’t have any tips because I haven’t started yet, but my son will be 19 months when he becomes a big brother too! He’s 17 months now. 😊

We introduced our son to the potty. Let him explore it without focusing on using it right away. Then started sitting him on it with clothes on. (kid potty) Then without. He was afraid at first. Refused to sit down. That showed he wasn't ready. Came back to it a few months later and again he wasn't ready. This time we just left the potty in the bathroom. One day he just sat down and peed. So we started the 3 day method. Let him pick out his underwear.   We do reward system too. He's potty trained by day but not at night. He is also afraid to poop. (He has pooped on the potty twice but poop touched him so he's like nope not again. Lol. ) He's 2.5, his doctor said she's used to seeing boys get potty trained around his age so I didn't push it.

We waited until our son started showing he was ready by taking his own nappy off, asking to sit on the toilet etc he was almost 3. best advice given to me was to use the toilet and not a potty! Other wise you’ll have to train the child to use a toilet after all the work with a potty and some kids become attached to the potty and have trouble getting them to use the toilet (We just bought a toddler chair to put over the toilet) another tip is to keep consistent. I made sure we didn’t have any big plans for a couple days and stayed home. Took him to the toilet every couple of hours. We didn’t leave the house much because I didn’t want to put him back into a nappy to go out, it would’ve confused him. We did this for about 2-3 days then took him to the shops and regularly took him to the toilets, packed spare underwear and clothes in case of accidents but he was great, couldn’t believe how easy it was 😆
