Is leg swelling post partum normal?

I had an epidural and it numbed one side better than the other. No big deal by the time I had to push I felt it all. However my left leg was dead during the birth and my right leg could move. Since then, my right leg has been extremely swollen and painful. At the hospital they didnt seem worried but now that I'm home my left leg has also swollen. My legs and feet feel like they are going to pop. Is this normal or should I get compression socks?

They hurt to move let alone stand or walk.
