So, a year ago I got married to my husband who is in the military and moved across the country to be with him. I had a verbal agreement with my mother that while I moved and got settled in, that she would care for my dog until I could come and take him with me. Since then, she has been absolutely refusing to let me have my dog back. He is about to be 5 years old next week and I had him since he was a puppy. She does not take great care of him, she feeds him crap grocery store food, she very rarely gets him groomed (he’s half shitzu so he gets matted bad), and doesn’t take him to the vet! She’s claiming he has filled a void in her life and now I am not allowed to have him back. What do you guys suggest doing? I am incredibly heartbroken because he is like my child! I have never had that great of a relationship with my mother and she’s just taking it even further down the drain now.
