How to transfer a very clingy baby to crib?!

So my 8 month old son is soooo clingy, which is totally my fault cause I’ve been co-sleeping with him since he was just a few weeks old till now! But it’s getting to the point that it’s not very enjoyable to co-sleep anymore cause he takes up the whole bed and it would be nice to transfer him to the crib so I can start getting some time to myself and to get stuff done around the house! But idk where to even begin!!! TIPS PLEASE

I disagree with the comment saying to transfer to crib when they’re asleep. I tried this at first, and it scared the hell out of my daughter when she woke up. She cried so hard she could hardly breathe. Imagine falling asleep, then waking up somewhere else. And for a baby, it could be falling asleep in your mother’s arms, then waking up all alone in a dark room. It’s scary! And our nurse said that babies need to put themselves to sleep, it will go a lot more smoothly that way.    
We just waited until our daughter was sleepy but not sleeping, then put her in her crib. If she cried we left her for a couple minutes, then came in and checked on her so that she knows we are still there. She fell asleep on her own within a half hour.

We're in the same boat. Zombie mode everyday. My DD was sleep trained for 2 weeks until I had a clogged duct.

Transfer to crib when totally asleep at first. It may take a few days before he stays asleep when you do this but he will. Then if he gets comfortable with that start laying him down when he is really groggy and have him self soothe to sleep. Good luck!
