Do you flush your tampons or throw them away?

I honestly had no idea that flushing your tampons could be so damaging to your plumbing until a post I saw on here 😳

I have never flushed them. There are signs in all public bathrooms, saying not to. So, I assume it is the same for at home.

DO NOT flush tampons. I learned the hard way. I probably flushed 200+ before one finally got stuck but it happened.

Definitely can’t flush it when you have septic tanks and stuff. I always throw mine out or I use a cup to reduce trash in general

I ALWAYS flushed mine my whole life and then when I moved into the house I’m in now we started having MAJOR plumbing issues and it was a tampon clog. I literally had no idea and my husband thought I was crazy for having flushed them. All the boxes say is not to flush the applicator (if it’s a plastic one!) and even the cardboard applicator ones say you can even flush the applicator. So now I throw them away.

I have flushed once because the restroom I was in had no trash can nor a disposal area for feminine products, but I really don’t do it as a habit.
