Reasons for induction?

Alyssa

I’m at 39 + 2 and going in for my weekly appointment tomorrow - I’m miserable at this point but nothing dangerous - my son hasn’t dropped at all and I’ve had minimal dilation and effacement at my last 2 appointments. I am probably looking at an induction and would rather have it done at 40 weeks instead of 41 as my Dr has suggested. Going into 41 weeks eliminates a lot of my support options as my husband has finals (of course he will be there for the birth but I’d rather not derail an entire semester for him) and my MIL has an out of state graduation for my husbands sibling. Has anyone successfully convinced their Dr to induce ahead of their preferred schedule?

My pregnancy symptoms are fairly normal - sciatica and pelvic pain that make it difficult to walk, nausea/vomiting almost every day even this late in the game, heartburn that can’t be touched w even prescription meds 😔 My blood pressure and all test results have been completely normal thus far so no pre-eclampsia or anything.
