should i follow him on ig?

so basically i like this guy and he apparently likes me (i found out from his mom). he’s a year older than me but that’s fine. we don’t go to the same school so when i see him it’s always for like dinner or days out with his parents and mine. i found his instagram but i don’t wanna be weird by requesting it because he might think i was stalking to find his instagram and stuff. we haven’t really talked that much but i think if i had his instagram we could text but then again, we might just end up following each other and not texting each other. should i request to follow him?
