When to go to hospital??

Currently 36w and my feet are swollen, are you supposed to go to hospital if you have swelling? Or is this common?

Not necessarily. Put your feet up / drink some water or try an epsom salt bath and it should go down . I’ve been getting swollen feet and ankles off and on as well but it’s usually when I’ve been walking a lot or out in the heat all day . The swelling always goes down . If it doesn’t I would call the doctors

I swelled HORRIBLY with my first.  To the point that I had to buy men's flip flops to wear to the hospital because even sizing up in women's didn't help.  My OB said it was completely normal.  As long as your blood pressure is normal and there's no protein in your urine I wouldn't worry

I was swollen like a walrus with my son for the last 10 weeks of pregnancy and it was completely normal. Put your feet up and drink water! Just let you doctor know at your next visit and they will see if it’s anything to worry about.

Swelling can be common, but could also be signs of preeclampsia. Are you having any other symptoms? How’s your BP? Any headaches or dizziness? Did the swelling come on very sudden and is it excessive? 
When is your next appointment with your OB? Limit your salt intake and up your water consumption.

From what I've read, the concern is when the swelling is sudden and in your face and hands. Otherwise, increase water intake, put up your feet, increase potassium, decrease caffeine intake. Lower extremity edema is common in pregnancy. Hands and face, I would call.

If you've been active then your feet will swell. Lift them up and relax.

Depends! Have you been sitting most of the day? I remember I took a flight about 11ish hours long around 33 weeks and my feet and ankles swelled like CRAZY! But it was just from not moving around enough and being dehydrated!

Swelling is pretty common. They are concerned when it becomes pitting. Like press your fingers up against your shin and see if it makes an indent? Pitting edema can be a sign of preeclampsia and should be checked. Are you having headaches? Vision changes?

No I’ve been moving like normal, and am hydrated. I drink a lot of water. My feet just started throbbing and I looked down and they are swollen. I have Vienna sausages as toes lol this is my 5th pregnancy and I’ve never experienced this

Thanks ladies. This is my 5th pregnancy and I’ve never had swelling so this is new to me.
