I hit yes but meant to hit no. If your relationship gets to a point that you need to break up, even just as a break, than something’s not working. If your relationship is worth it, work out issues instead of breaking up. It makes things really messy and complicated

It’s not that I believe in it, but I have done it twice with the person I’m with now. We’ve both had a lot on our plates, I’ve never been in a serious relationship before, and there were some trust issues at one point, communication issues, family issues with his baby mama etc etc. First time around I needed space to figure out what I wanted/needed/how I operated in a relationship and if I even wanted a relationship. I didn’t want to string him along so we broke up, both fooled around with other people before getting back together. Second time our communication broke down entirely because things got stressful and neither of us could handle it and we were both just mentally checked out. That time around he needed the space to figure things out so he tried going for a “break” but I made it a break up. We took a breather and got back together again. Idk it worked out but also I never planned either of them they just kind of happened and in the moment it was definitely break ups not breaks.
I think a lot of what matters is what boundaries/expectations you have during the ordeal (so ours were pretty much none because break ups) to ensure that nothing irredeemable happens (ie, hook ups if you aren’t okay with that) and if you actually use the time to work out what you need to work out (which we did)
