Honest opinions please
I wrote this poem back when I was a freshman in high school, so I was about 14. I was just hoping to get some honest feed back on it. (By the way, theres absolutely no relevance of this poem to my real life.)
Alone in her room
Through the pain and tears
She looks at the bottle
Remembering the pain and nightmares
She drinks away her memories
Tired of trying to hide
She swallows gulp by gulp
The scars lay side by side
No one hears her screams for help
She lies alone in her bed
She hurts one last time
And then she is left for dead
No one knew such a thing could happen
No one saw it beyond her face
She has left never to return
She left this gloomy place
Everyone stares as she is lowered to the ground
No one can speak; silence fills the day
What could they have done?
What didn’t they say?
She takes her secrets to the grave
She would have never let anyone known
That she wears the long sleeves
So the bruises wouldn’t show.
A young girl beaten and torn
Took the path few ever took
As her guilt stricken father approaches
He can only say goodbye with one last look
As she crept towards the golden gates
She never looked back
Never thought of the pain
And how all the love lacked
She finally rests in peace
As her father moves on to find someone new
Don’t let abuse make you a victim to suicide
Tell someone before its too late, before this happens to you.
