Please share your story about anyone making a comment about your age gap or any similar scenario so I know I’m not alone.

So I’m 18 and my boyfriend is 33. One day, we went to the library so I could study for my finals and he was there just to be with me. I call him Daddy so I’m assuming someone heard. But when we left the library and I was already in the car, a man approached him and had a ‘talk’ with him. I’m sure he’s just a concerned Samaritan, paying attention to his surroundings and looking out for others, in his case, me.

Well anyway, I was in the car for a good 15 minutes, waiting for my boyfriend while he and this random man talked. But when I saw my boyfriend’s face, he looked disturbed. When I finally left the car, the man was telling us how he saw me go to the kid’s section for a picture book and borrow it (I like it when he reads me bedtime stories) and how I would call my older boyfriend ‘Daddy’. He was very blunt and said he just wanted to talk to my boyfriend about possible consequences if I was underaged. I quickly pulled out my ID and showed it to him.

The man then backed off and said how I was still too young for my boyfriend.

This isn’t the first time someone has asked for my ID or made comments about our age gap. But I also know, this won’t be our last.
