A minor getting a tattoo at the ages of 1-17 years old is it ok and what the cut off point?

So a couple years before I got pregnant I remembered this whole firer storm about parents tattooing their children with their consent and I want to see people and other parents personal views on the subject, but with out the comments because people opinions are all different and I just don’t want fighting.

I would say teenager (mainly over the age of 16) as they can give actual consent, and understand that it will be painful and permanent.
Anything younger is just disgusting, in my opinion.

I personally think you should have to be of legal drinking age. 
Tattoos are so permanent. 
I had to have 2 cover ups because 18 year old me thought I was grown 🙄 
I just think at 21 the brain is more developed and you are capable of making better decisions.

Okay was not voting!!! It did the baby 😡😡😡😡😡. I don’t think okay to tattoo a baby or child. Over 18 total up to them.  If the parents are okay and have talked with their kids about it all the youngest I would think is okay is 16.

I live in a state where it's 18 or nothing for any licensed tattooer who owns a shop or anything to touch you. I think it should be 18

Got my first tattoo on my 16th birthday as a present from my mom and I still love it, the best present ever. Other gifts come and go but I look at my tattoo and remember my mom and how much she loves me and trusted me to make a permanent decision about my body.

i got my first at 17 with parental consent, however with that being said i totally wish someone smacked the shit out of me for the tattoo i got after that. i’ve also had two cover ups because 18 year old me didn’t know what the fuck i was doing, and just wanted a tattoo. even if it meant some dude downtown in his house. smh

Let’s be real here, no one is tattooing their adolescent children. Now 15+... maybe but definitely not any younger. I got my first at 18 because my aunt wouldn’t give me permission.
