Saw my sister have a grand mal seizure for the first time
My husband and I heard the “scream” and ran into her room. We made sure she didn’t hurt herself and that her head wasn’t hitting anything. She was biting her tongue so hard it was bleeding. When she came to, she was just staring at me like she didn’t know who I was with a little stream of blood coming out of her mouth. I just kept saying softly “you’re okay now,” even though I wanted to cry and give her a hug. I didn’t want to freak her out but eventually I said you had a seizure. She got very upset after she could recognize what happened. Up until recently, she had been seizure free for about 10 years. She’s on an increased dose of medication. She’s living with my husband, daughter and I because she can’t drive. I know she is frustrated because she can’t control it but I just want to make sure she’s comfortable. Yes, it definitely freaked my husband and I out but I don’t want her to feel worse than she already does. After seeing that, I really don’t want her to be alone ever. Anyone ever had a seizure, when no one was around? What should I do? Any advice? Any support systems you all felt worked? I would do anything for her! And I just don’t want anything bad to happen to her.
Thank you in advance
