Do you feel like sexual education is mostly aimed at young girls?

From my own personal experience that is very much the case.
My fiancé and I are childhood sweethearts and started dating very young, but he says his parents never gave him any type of talk about safe sex, STIs pregnancy or anything.  However I was taught pretty early on.  
His mother would occasionally have just said to him just “don’t be up to anything” or “make sure she’s on the pill”
So in my view his mother very much assumed that it was up to me to take responsibility.

I don't think so, I think the example you're showing is just two different family dynamics with two different approaches to sex education.
The general attitude in society does seem to lean more towards placing responsibility on women to be on birth control rather than both parties carrying condoms, but I think even that's starting to change. I don't consider general attitude to be the same as sex ed, though. 
Sex ed should include Male and female genitalia, not just condoms and STD's. By 7th grade I could fill out a diagram of the penis and testicles and talk about proper care, but it wasn't until a year after I graduated and I sought out the information on Google that I learned the proper word for my vulva, what each part of the vulva is called, and how to properly care for it. During sex ed in school we learned all about why we should be abstinent, saw pictures of absolute worst case scenario STI's, and then got a 30-minute conversation about contraception, mostly Male condoms and how to tell if they're damaged and how to properly apply them. We only got about 10 minutes where we learned about ways women can be sure they're having safe sex. There wasn't any point in school where I learned the benefits of tracking my period or what kinds of things can affect it, the kinds of discharge that are healthy and normal and the kinds to be worried about. Hell, for the 3 days we spent learning about STD's and STI 's you'd think they at least would have talked about how it's actually uncommon for men to show symptoms of HPV, but they didn't. 
Sex ed is definitely skewed, but not towards young women.

The education I got at school was focused on both sexes. We were split for gender specific topics like how to look after your genitals, and then co-ed for general sex education and the menstrual cycle. 
At home it was pretty much the same because my mum has worked in fertility clinics, midwifery and everything in between.

I am homeschooling 3 boys. I will absolutely he educating them about sexuality and all that goes with it. My parents taught me nothing. I think it depends more on if a parent is comfortable discussing it than on a male/female issue.

Generally, speaking as someone in the US, the bare minimum is done to teach people about their bodies. My Sex Ed focused on identifying body parts, how they work and why, and STDs. No talk of consent. No talk of safe sex, just don’t have sex. And if you do have sex, don’t talk about it which leads to people “learning” from porn.
If sex ed is focused on girls, then it’s a continuation of the patriarchy in which women are taught to be the gatekeepers of sex, being responsible for both themselves and their partners’ sexual urges and safety. It’s toxic and untrue.

I feel like sexual education is left to YouTube at this point. People just bury their damned heads in the sand and act like their perfect little angels will never have the desire to get down and just leave them stupid and naive.

In the middle school I went to they taught sex ed to both sexes, in separate rooms. For girls, they taught us about periods and pregnancy, mostly. As for boys, I have no clue. But I heard from my old ninth grade health teacher that they're now teaching the students how to use condoms.

Pretty sure I got like 0 sex ed from anywhere about anything that was even a little bit useful until college. And that came from RA meetings and my own googling and such more than the manditory health class we were all required to take first semester. Public education is a joke and it is most apparent when you look at teen pregnancy rates and rampent herpes outbreaks

I'm concerned that many schools are lacking and lopsided, but the way my kids' school addressed "human growth and development" is a great example of why I adore that school.  
It was spread over about 4 weeks, an hour or two here or there.  They had a basic puberty curriculum that went over stuff like body hair, odor, breasts, voice changes, menstruation.  But they also had lots of conversation about body image, and what historically has it meant to adorn oneself, how can people shape the way they look.  They talked about how different it is to comment on someone's inherent vs deliberate visual characteristics.  They were assigned to bring in samples of advertisements.  They had the kids pose in the positions of the models, see how it felt to stand strong, hands on hips, or sit folded and angled from the camera.  They compared how many times the women were portrayed powerfully vs the men.  They watched the Dove video about photoshopping a model.  They had a journal they could leave impressions and questions in for the teachers to answer more privately, as well as an anonymous jar.  They started talking about respect and friendship and trust, and how part of adolescence is taking more control over the parts of yourself you can control, and being held responsible for respecting others in a whole 'nother level.  
They went over some of the biomechanics of sexual reproduction (pregnancy) but hold most of the relationship (sex)  curriculum for next year.   It was amazing.  
Amongst all the safety stuff,  the infection and pregnancy stuff, it's important to me that my daughter understands that worldwide, most of the sex that is happening, is happening for pleasure ... and if there's ever a time that it's not pleasant for her, it shouldn't be happening.
