Do iud hurt

I’m looking at getting a iud . 
Any suggestion 
Had good experience ? Or bad 
Do they hurt ? 
What’s the process after getting one

Didn’t end up getting it, but when I talked to a Nurse Practitioner about getting one, she said you go in for a measurement of your uterus which can be a little painful since they’re sticking like a pole in your cervix (she recommended taking ibuprofen before I came in), but that once it was in you usually shouldn’t feel it. 
Even with the potential for that short amount of pain, it didn’t sound too bad.
