nexplanon symptoms?

So i been on nexplanon since february of last year, anytime i masturbate in a certain way "aka fingering" i have a brown discharge that comes out. Also my period is so messed up! When i get it i have it for almost a whole month some days its dark red some days brown. Its starting to make me not wanna have sex anymore bc im scared the brown discharge would come out😩Should i just get off the nexplanon and try something else? If so any recommendations?

I’ve heard not so good things about the implant from other people as well, if you’re not happy with it I’d definitely try something else as there are so many out there!

Irregular bleeding/spotting patterns are the most common side effect (and number 1 complaint) of progestin only methods like Nexplanon. Irregular bleeding can include longer time frames with or without bleeding, random bleeding, frequent bleeding, lighter bleeding, or heavier bleeding, at any given time. Sometimes doctors will prescribe a low dose birth control pill in addition to the implant to try & help lessen or stop the bleeding. If that’s not something ur interested in & are tired of the irregular bleeding, then talk to ur doctor about trying something else.

I came off the implant after a year because I was experiencing a somewhat backwards period. I was bleeding for 3 weeks and off for 1, but that was after getting normal periods for the first 4 or so months. It probably doesn’t suit you so it might be worth going back to the doctor and discussing other options. Or, the doctor may prescribe you with the combination pill, as mine did the same but unfortunately I was unable to take it as I was at a high risk of blood clots.
